Trend of the Day! Cut-Outs!

Everywhere I look, there seems to be shops and magazines featuring dresses with cut-out panels. And although it may be a great way to save on fabric, I really love this trend as I think it makes a simple dress a bit more unique and it is also a very sexy look. There is nothing sexier than showing off just a little bit of skin, and on a night out, I think it is a much classier and more original alternative rather than just showing off your legs/chest. Below are my favourite picks from the High Street, and my tips on how to work this trend!

1. If you're going to go for a dress with a lot of cut-outs, make sure you don't show too much skin, for example if it has cut outs around the chest, make sure not too show too much of your legs, and if it's a short dress, pair with black tights. Remember that less is not always more and you want to look sexy, not slutty!

2. If you aren't comfortable having cut-outs but still want to try the trend, then try a cut out with a sheer panel. Sheer is really in right now, featuring big in the S&M trend, and it is a very sexy way of showing flesh but still keeping it sophisticated.

3. Be careful with cut outs near the thigh areas. I personally sometimes feel some of them might be a bit too much flesh, but when paired with sheer tights they can be a very sexy look.

4. Showing some of your underwear is still quite trendy (and when I mean underwear, I am referring to your bra, please don't try to revive the trend in the 90s/early 00s of showing your G-string!) but if you do show some of it in the cut-out, go for nice bright colours so it shows that is the look you were going for, and simply weren't too lazy to wear a strapless bra. For example, with a black cut-out dress, a peek of a bright turqouise bra is very sexy and gives your own personal spin of the look!
