Louis Vuitton 2012 Ads

It's been around for a while now so no doubt that anyone who has opened a fashion magazine has seen the beautiful Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 ads. If you could sum up the feel of this summer it would be with these ads. The candy coloured palette is exemplified in the scene of an ice cream parlour, which also has the 1950s feel that is so popular this summer. This hot weather is having women all over the UK slipping into cute flared candy skirts and dresses and the sugary sweet images by Louis Vuitton make me want to make sure my summer wardrobe matches my ice cream flavours, mint and strawberry!

To get the look... first go for a pastel palette such as the items below...

Find of the Day: Amelie Boutique

I had the luck of stumbling onto a great little online shop, and it really does feel like a boutique with its uber cute and easy to navigate website. They feature a number of designers, some a bit pricier than others, but I love the indie, vintage selection of clothes. They even have some vintage Chanel bags if you feel like really splurging! As is seen below in my picks, they really are a great site for finding new quirky indie labels!

Fancy a Little Reviewing Opportunity?

Hey everybody, if you have a fashion/beauty blog, then this may be a great opportunity for you! Basically, I am helping this great little new company that wants to make online shopping social! The company, RecommendedBy.co.uk, has came up with a concept and I am trying to help them get more people, specifically blogs and their followers, on board! Basically, they work with over 170 retailers - both online/offline fashion and beauty brands, and by registering with RecommendedBy, you get access to offers and discounts. By sharing these with your friends and followers such as through your blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc, you earn commissions for everything they buy with the RecommendedBy discounts. So you've helped your friends and followers save and earned a bit of money doing what you do best- blogging!

There is an increasing directory of those brands involved in the offers and discounts, so you get to earn money on the commissions when people use the discounts you've shared whilst you still choose what you want to promote and blog about. Some of the brands they work with are...

Agent Provocateur, Attitude Clothing Co., All Saints, Bank, Banana Republic, Boden, Boohoo.com, Brown Bag Clothing, Dorothy Perkins, Feelunique.com, Firetrap, Forever Unique, French Connection, Full Circle, Goddiva, Gorgeous Shop, Green People, Liberty of London, Littlewoods, Look Fantastic, Motel Rocks, Office, Own the Runway, Phase Eight, Plain Lazy, Quiz, Rock my Vintage, Ted Baker, The Beauty Room, Urban Outfitters, Very.co.uk, and White Stuff.

As you can see, there are many brands and companies that are already well known and blogged about, as well as smaller companies and brands that are just starting out or are unique in their fashion/beauty products- so it is a great way to promote and discover new products!

So what can you do?

If you would like to be involved in RecommendedBy.co.uk, e-mail me at alixmabon@hotmail.com or contact me via my Twitter. Contact me if you would like to do a review of RecommendedBy and would like more info or would like to help promote and get on board! You can also follow the Twitter account of RecommendedBy by clicking here!
So if you think it is a great concept, then get on board, email me, tweet about it, get more blogs you think would be interested and let's get shopping social! :)

xx

Fashion News of the Week

1. A Store for Victoria Beckham?
Despite the rumours, there are no confirmed plans for a store for Victoria Beckham's label, but the designer/former Spice Girl has not ruled it out. Victoria has slowly made a respected name for herself in the industry, and has commented that she would like to open a store in the future. She did comment that that it may possibly be in Hong Kong and reiterated that she does not want her label to focus on just US and UK markets.

2. Victoria's Secret Hits London:
It may not be of the Beckham variety, but another Victoria is coming to the UK- that of Victoria's Secret. It's been confirmed for a few weeks now with the store opening on Bond Street in London on the 25th of July. The debut of the store will not go unnoticed, as a tow of Angels will be out in full force, in a catwalk show celebrating the American brand's launch in the UK. There will also be a second store at Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, east London.

3. A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss (At Least in Croydon...)
Sorry about the title- I just couldn't resist. Croydon has compiled a list of 10 locals to be included in their own walk of fame, but unarguably one of the most famous locals is currently not on the list. However, this could change as people will be able to vote for those that they believe best represent their culture and history. Those chosen will be featured on a portrait bench in the form of three life-sized effigies. Some of the names that have been shortlisted are Ronnie Corbett and Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader in three Star Wars films.

4. A Victory for Burberry!
Burberry has been awarded a payout of $100 million due to a counterfeit Chinese network that was selling goods imitating the label's check and knight design. The defendants, who ran websites such as yesburberryvision.com and buyburberry.com, failed to answer the complaint or even appear in court which led to substantial damages being paid to Burberry.

Style Icon of the Day: Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor was not just a star, but a woman who is immortal due to her iconic style and stunning jewellery collection. The fiesty star oozed glamour and was hailed as a screen siren all over the world with her over the top jewels and her halterneck dresses and skirts fitted to her womanly silhouette. An expensive woman, she naturally liked only the most expensive of things (this is clearly evident in the jewellery collection she has left behind) and this is what has made her a style icon and a symbol of old Hollywood glamour.

Vivien of Holloway is a great place to channel old Hollywood glamour with fitted and flared 1950s dresses, with a feminine halterneck just like Elizabeth.

A classic component Elizabeth Taylor's style was head scarves. Add a dash of Parisienne chic with a pinstripe fit and flare skirt.

Elizabeth looks absolutely stunning in this photo, and the green is a very classy and flattering colour. Emerald green is a classic colour and goes perfectly with any complexion, be it pale or tan.

Emerald green is a colour that can look great with  a spaghetti strapped dress for a summer's day, to a flattering wrap dress and even as a floor-length evening gown. Accessorize with Elizabeth's favourites, pearls and diamonds!
